A Chilly Nightmare Comes to an End!

You know I respect people and admire the drive we as humans have when we can come together and achieve what seems to be the impossible. All over the news for the past several days was the Chilean’s working for the good of their people. How could you not have a heart and feel what these people were going through. Surely, these men held underground by Mother Nature’s force by not giving way to their escape caused quite a stir amongst the locals as well as people around the world. In addition, what determination these men have in continuing to survive instead of giving in to what most would have thought their fate has come to and end.

I am simply amazed what people can accomplish when they set their mind to it. One question I laugh at sort of is what experience did these men have as pulling people to survival? Looking at the economy around us and around the globe one has to wonder did they have to be a good fit to obtain the status of pulling their comrades to safety? Were they highly degreed professionals that sat there with shovels and pick-axes to free their loved ones?

Why do we live in such global desperation at putting people back to work? When you see people of other cultures who have so much less than we have achieve the unthinkable, is there not a lesson to be learned? I ponder many thoughts where humanity is driving and in what real direction are they seeking. Even as businessmen look toward profits, they surely can see that if we all pull together they can reap their riches, grow their companies and yet be kind and compassionate enough to do their part in such a global economic meltdown and turn it into something more delightful and at the end of the day everyone can safely end their day being with their love ones in a solemn grace.

Maybe I do live in a dream world hoping and praying for one day when all men will come together for a betterment of humanity and be more helping than wanting. Another thought I can only pray for.

  1. Dennis,
I am taken by your compassion, insight and WISDOM. The reason the Chilean's were able to pull-off what amounts to a human miracle of ingenuity is because there was no debate; that is to conclude, no one opposed their efforts by saying "NO." All factions coalesced and in a unified effort, developing and implementing a realistically and doable solution. There was only universal cooperation for a united purpose.

The challenges faced by those WE elected to solve these kinds of issues do not fully comprehend that the economic anomaly America and many other free world countries are navigating is, like for Chili, life and death situations for many of the 15 or so million Americans who are unfortunate enough to have been placed among the ranks of the unemployed. In reality, death may take on different meanings throughout. For some death is financial ruin; for others it may be as drastic as suicide.

So far and for the most part, those that are suffering unemployment have demonstrated the same strength and commitment to prevail as did the Chileans. The difference being, Washington has as yet not learned the lessons demonstrated by the Chileans who by coming together have in record time, against all expert predictions, have saved all 31 miners without a mishap. I suggest BP and America admire the Chileans for their creativity in tackling that which seemed at first improbable, if not impossible. We shall be dealing with the BP oil crisis residuals and the after-effects of the present economic debacle for decades to come.

Dennis, great stuff; although I am in no way surprised by your wisdom.

  2. Thank you Arnie for your response. I enjoyed reading it. And thank you for the kind words. Compassion in my thoughts is how we get passed the many negative venues we're up against. The Chilly nightmare is only one episode we as a society could learn much about. Putting down the green and keeping in mind what human life is truly all about is simply the way mankind was intended. We are typically animals just like our friends in the forest just we are suppose to have the ability to think logically with understanding but, in many cases our friends in the forest seem to have more common sense than mankind does at times! Thank you again.
